Ein Erfahrungsbericht zum Thema Tuningboxen - in diesem Fall RaceChip und deckt sich doch sehr mit den hier geschilderten Erfahrungen

"There are so many gimmicks and "placebos" on the market for our cars these days. They all make claims of "XX more horsepower", "faster throttle response", etc.
Having been an Abarth owner since 2013 (starting with the 500), one of my favorites was the "Go Pedal" (and similar). Do you know what this product does for your 0-60 time? Anyone want to guess?!
    Nothing.
I pressed one of the sellers of this particular product one time by asking directly, "How does this effect my 0-60 time?" He danced around the question with a few responses that eventually led to him admitting that there is no improvement in acceleration. It just "feels" faster.
As some of you may recall, I recently received the RaceChip from a vendor of that product. I was anxious to install it and get that 46 HP boost that I was told I would experience.
I disconnected my battery. I took my wheel off, reached up past the wheel well liner to access the turbo sensor, and attached the new harness. Next I attached the other lead on the harness to the manifold pressure sensor. I remounted my passenger-side wheel. I reconnected the battery.
After about 30-45 mins I was on my way to improved performance, right?
    Nope.
How do I know what effect this product had (or didn't have)? Easy. I downloaded a GPS Acceleration app and added it to my phone. (Several are available in the app stores.) I went out and ran 10+ runs with the unit plugged in versus with the bypass plug in place.
The car ran the SAME 0-60 time consistently over-and-over.
I was told that the car needs to drive over 100 miles before the unit would adjust, that the unit was tested before it was sent to me, etc. I have had it on my car for about a month now. It has done all the "adjusting" it should need.
Not to mention that the instructions are pretty much garbage. They were basically a generic MS Word document showing a Volkswagen (see attached). I had to use 500Madness's MaxPower YouTube video in order to find the sensor locations and get this thing installed. The RaceChip instructions DID NOT show anything related to the actual FIAT 124 install and they don't have any installation videos online. No one else has posted any videos of it being tested on the 124 either.
The bottom line: BEFORE you purchase any of these parts and shell out hundreds of dollars, check the company's return policy, their reviews, etc. Then...
    1. Download a good 0-60 timer app.
    2. Make a few runs in a safe and flat place WITHOUT the part installed - to establish a benchmark or a base.
    3. Install the part per the manufacturer's guidelines.
    4. Make a few more runs with your modified car.

If you see quicker acceleration - congrats! Tell us about that product - as we are always wanting to hear what's good for the 124. However, if there is no increase in performance... remember that step regarding the seller's return policy.
    Good luck friends! Be safe."
